UTICA, NY- Junior Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) and senior captain Janessa Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Canadian International Hockey Academy) of the Utica College women’s hockey team were named to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week, Tuesday.

This is Goin’s third honor she has received this week after she backstopped the Pioneers to a pair of conference victories over SUNY Cortland last weekend. Goin became the first player in program history to record a shutout in three straight games and she currently has a shutout streak that has lasted 181:04. On Saturday, she made 17 saves in a 3-0 win over the Red Dragons. She followed that up with 23 saves in a 1-0 victory on Sunday to earn the sweep. On the season she has a .960 save percentage, 1.00 goals against average, and her four shutouts this year tie the College’s single-season record.

Haasbeek was a factor on both ends of the ice in the sweep over Cortland. On Saturday, she had two assists, including one on the game-winner just 23 seconds into the first period of Utica’s 3-0 win on Saturday. She followed that up with an assist on the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win over the Red Dragons on Sunday. As part of the team’s top defensive pairing, she has also helped lead a Utica defense that has not allowed a goal in its last three games.

The Pioneers (8-2-1, 5-2-1 ECAC West) travel to take on Morrisville State College on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
