Three Statesmen Honored By ECAC West

Three members of the Hobart College hockey team were honored by the ECAC West this week. Senior goaltender Lino Chimienti (Montreal, Quebec) was selected the Goalie of the Week, first-year forward Brandon Bistodeau (Rogers, Minn.) was tabbed the Rookie of the Week and senior forward Mac Olson (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) garnered a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Chimienti stopped a total of 48 shots and sported a .923 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average. In a 2-1 win over Skidmore on Friday, Chimienti made 24 saves and in a 4-3 win over the Thoroughbreds on Saturday afternoon, he again stopped 24 shots. Chimienti is sporting a .946 save percentage, a 1.60 goals against average and an 7-0-1 record in goal this year. He sits atop the ECAC west in goals against average, save percentage and win percentage (.833). It’s the third time he has earned the award this season.

Playing in his first two games of the season, Bistodeau shared a team-high with three points on the weekend. He scored Hobart’s first goal in a 2-1 win on Friday night and set up the Statesmen’s first two goals in a 4-3 victory on Saturday.

Olson also notched three points over the weekend, on a goal and two assists. He logged the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over the Thoroughbreds on Friday night, 6:52 into the third period. On Saturday, he set up Hobart’s first two goals of the game that came just 28 seconds apart. Olson leads the Statesmen with 14 points and eight goals this season.

Hobart (7-2-1) will take on two non-league opponents this weekend. The Statesmen play at No. 7/8 Trinity (4-2-0) on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and then travel to take on Wesleyan (0-2-4) on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 4 p.m.
