Potsdam’s Pfeiffer NEWHL Goalie of the Week

PPOTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey player Alexa Pfeiffer (Sylvania, Ohio/Little Caesar’s) has been named the Northeast Women’s Hockey League’s Goalie of the Week.

With the Bears’ first ever home playoff game on the line, Pfeiffer made 34 saves to shut out Oswego State 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the 20th of her career, tying the program’s NCAA era record set by Jen Conophy ’13 during the 2012-13 season. This year, the junior assistant captain has a 7-4-1 record with career-highs in goals-against-average (2.06) and save percentage (.934). In addition to her 20 wins over three seasons, Pfeiffer ranks second in Bears history in save percentage (.919) and G.A.A. (2.49) and fourth in saves (1,163).

Potsdam (9-13-3, 6-8-2 NEWHL) is the two seed in this Saturday’s NEWHL Semifinals and will host No. 3 SUNY Cortland (14-8-3, 5-8-3) at 5 p.m. Tickets for the contest are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-12 and free for students attending NEWHL schools with school ID.
