It was just the start that the SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey was seeking—a
two-goal cushion—strengthened by team captain Mike Arnold (Didsbury,
Alberta / Kingston Voyageurs).

But, it would not hold as the Bears faltered late on the road to Buffalo
State 3-2 in an ECAC West game on Friday evening.

Sophomore forward Billy Pascalli (Deer Park ,N.Y. / New York Bobcats)
added to the lead at 12:12 in the first period on assists from junior
defender Erick Ware (Huntsville, Ala. / Kenai River Brown Bears) and
senior forward Adam Place (Scarborough, Ontario / Bowmanville Eagles).  It
was Arnold’s 32nd career goal in 66 games.

The Bengals (3-2 overall, 3-2 ECAC West) took advantage of the power play,
scoring on two such opportunities early in the second period by Dan
Turgeon and once again in the third period on what would be the eventual
game-winner by Ryan Salkeld. Taylor McGraw scored first for Buffalo State
while Kevin Carr made 39 saves.

Potsdam (0-5 overall, 0-4 ECAC West) stayed tight throughout behind the
play of sophomore goal tender Austin Keiser (Dunwoody, Ga. / Boston
Bulldogs), who made 28 saves.  Keiser was the hard-luck loser and dropped
to 0-3.
