The Canisius College hockey team rounded out its 2015 recruiting class with the addition of goalie Simon Hofley (Ottawa, Ontario) to the roster. Hofley is part of a 12-member freshman class for the 2015-16 season.

“We are excited to complete our class with Simon, who is an experienced junior hockey player coming from Flin Flon of the SJHL,” said Canisius assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Trevor Large. “With his addition, we are able to improve our depth at one of the most important positions on the ice. We feel confident that our goaltending unit will be an elite backbone for our program for years to come and are excited for Simon to be a part of that.”

Hofley joins the Griffs after spending the last two seasons with the Flin Flon Bombers of the SJHL. He appeared in 69 games with the team, posting a 2.82 goals against average and .921 save percentage. The Ottawa, Ontario native also played two years with the Ottawa Junior 67s from 2011 to 2013. He helped lead the team to a provincial championship in 2013, while earning National Goalie MVP accolades.

Hofley is part of a 12-member incoming class that joins 13 returning letterwinners from the 2014-15 campaign. Last season, Canisius matched its best finish in school history by placing second in the Atlantic Hockey regular-season standings and advancing to the conference final four for the third-straight year.
