Amerks Recall Former RIT Star Garbowsky From Elmira

(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced that the team has recalled forward Matt Garbowsky from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Garbowsky, 25, has recorded three points (1+2) in four games this season with Elmira. Last season, he completed his collegiate career with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), recording a school-record 54 points (26+28) and 28 penalty minutes in 40 games to rank tied for fourth in NCAA Division I in points and tied for third in goals. Garbowsky, who was named as one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award and earned Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year and Best Defensive Forward honors, helped lead RIT to an appearance in the NCAA Midwest Regional Final while serving as team captain. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of St. George, Ontario, joined the Amerks at the end of the season and recorded one assist in eight games.
