Two major fundraisers will be held for the firefighters lost when a gunman opened fire on them as they answered a call in Webster (NY) on Christmas Eve. The events are in honor of fallen and injured service men: Micheal J. Chiapperini, Tomasz Marian Kaczowka, Joseph Hofsetter and Theodore Scardino.
The first game will be held Saturday, February 9 at Thomas Creek Ice Arena at 6 p.m. This game will feature first responders playing against each other. The Rochester Pipers and Drummers will perform and the National Anthem will be song by two girls, one of which is the niece of fallen firefighter Mike Chippareni. Refereeing will be provided by members of the local hockey associations. There is a $5 admission. Kids in their team uniform or jersey will be admitted free, including cheerleaders.
The second benefit game will be played on Sunday, February 17 at Rochester’s Blue Cross Arena (1 War Memorial Square, Rochester). Webster’s Emergency Services members will take on the Rochester Amerks Alumni in what’s sure to be one of the best matches of the year! The puck drops at Noon for that game.
