Utica College Receiving Votes in Both National Polls

UTICA, NY – The Utica College men’s hockey team is receiving votes in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com National Polls released Monday. The Pioneers are receiving 11 votes in the USCHO.com poll and eight votes in the D3hockey.com poll.

The USCHO.com poll is compiled weekly and consists of 20 voters, including coaches and hockey writers from across the country. USCHO.com provides in-depth coverage of college hockey. The D3hockey.com Top 15 is voted on by a panel of 20 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.

The Pioneers are currently 3-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in ECAC West play headed into a two-game conference road trip at Neumann (Friday, 7pm) and Manhattanville (Saturday, 7pm).

UC is coming off a 1-1 weekend at home where the Pioneers topped Elmira 4-3 on Friday before falling to nationally-ranked Hobart on Saturday, 5-1.

Utica sophomore Alex Brissette (Atlanta, GA/Hampton Roads (USPHL)) leads the team with four goals and two assists this season. Brissette and freshman Hayden Dawes (Stony Plain, Alberta/Drayton Valley (AJHL)) are tied for seventh in the conference with an average of 1.20 points per contest. Dawes is tied for the league lead in rookie scoring with six points this season (three goals, three assists).

Utica goalie Michael Fredrick (Lethbridge, Alberta/Brooks Bandits (AJHL)) ranks second in the conference with a goals against average of 2.36 and he also ranks second in the conference with a save % of .922.
