PLYMOUTH, Michigan – USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program announced today it is taking fan submissions, as part of its “Name the Eagle” campaign for its team mascot.

“With this year’s move to the USA Hockey Arena, our team is in a new era,” said Scott Monaghan, senior director of operations at the NTDP. “Our primary focus will always be developing our athletes. Now we want to expose them to a larger fan base and create an engaging game-day environment that keeps them coming back. Part of that is having a mascot for fans to enjoy.”

The #NTDPEagle made his first public appearance last season during the 2014 Under-17 Four Nations Tournament hosted by the NTDP at its original home, the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Since then, the mascot has made limited public appearances. However, to celebrate the start of the 2015-16 season and the NTDP’s new home, #NTDPEagle will be visiting select businesses in the Plymouth community. Beginning tomorrow (Oct. 1) the mascot will visit Penn Station (44431 Ann Arbor Rd., Plymouth), Great Clips (44523 Ann Arbor Rd., Plymouth) and bd’s Mongolian Grill (42089 Ford Rd., Canton) in the days leading up to the first game at USA Hockey Arena on Oct. 9.

Fans are encouraged to follow @usahockeyntdp on Twitter and Instagram to find out when the eagle will be at each location. Fans also have a chance to win game tickets for opening weekend at USA Hockey Arena (Oct. 9, 11) and other prizes.
