Union Scores First, But Falls To Yale

NEW HAVEN, CT—The Union College women’s ice hockey team scored first, but ultimately fell 2-1 to Yale on Friday afternoon.

The Dutchwomen started off strong as Kathryn Tomaselli popped one in behind goaltender Hanna Mandl to score her sixth goal of the season. She was assisted by Brandy Streeter and Kathryn Davis. Union held the 1-0 lead to end the first period.

Jamie Haddad tied up the game with 12:23 left in the second. She was assisted by Emma Vlassic and Brittany Wheeler.

With the game even at 1-1 in the third period, the Bulldogs took the lead at 12:53. Courtney Pensavalle found a way behind Melissa Black, she was assisted by Hanna Astrom and Emily Monaghan.

Black was named first star in the game as she tallied 39 saves in the game. With the saves she currently ranks sixth in single-season saves with 809.

The Dutchwomen head to Providence, R.I., and take on Brown on Saturday, January 23 at 1 p.m.
