The Rochester Insitute of Technology Women’s Ice Hockey Team is off to a rough start in exhibition play losing two to Clarkson, ranked #12; and two to Colgate, ranked #14. However when it comes to AHA League play they swept Delaware in weekend play. First it was a 4-1 victory and then a 3-2 win.

Leading the scoring early on is Zoe Ziotas with 6 goals and 2 assists for 8 points in six games. Then its Kailey Favro with a goal and 5 assists. Rochester’s Addie Alvarez is at 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Brynn Evans had her first collegiate goal just 59 seconds into the second period of the 3-2 win over Delaware.

Coach Celeste Brown has added another New Yorkere to her roster with Eryka DeRocha from Hannibal. She played forward for the Rochester Junior Americans.

Next up for RIT is the Brickyard City Homecoming and Family Weekend when they will host Brown on November 16 at 6 p.m. and November 17 at noon.

ACHA Hockey

At ACHA hockey the RIT Women have also had a rought start losing to St. Lawrence, Army and Villinova. They are off to face West Virginia on October 24 and 25 and then home to Mercyhurst in November.

The Niagara University D2 team will play Robert Morris November 6 and 7.

Upcoming

Most collegiate women’s team’s will be opening later this month.

Buffalo State Women open at St. John Fisher on Saturday, October 24 at 2 p.m. Then come home to Hilbert College on Wednesday, October 27 at 7 p.m.

Hilbert College will open against the Niagara University ACHA D1 team in an exhibition match on Saturday, October 17, 6:30 p.m. Dwyer Arena. They will open at home in the newly renovated Nike Base Arena in Hamburg on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. against Neumann University.

Nazareth University opens Saturday, October 17 with a home exhibition game against Cortland at 1 p.m. Their home games will be played at Station 31 Arena in Fairport.

St. John Fisher, in its second year of play, will open with a doubleheader at the Rochester Ice Center on Friday, October 30 against Neumann University at 4 p.m. The second game will be played the following day at Noon.
