Six NY Natives On US Roster For 2017 U17 Hockey Challenge

PLYMOUTH, Mich.– USA Hockey announced today the 23-player roster for its 2017 U.S. National Under-17 Team, which will compete at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge from Nov. 5-11 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

The roster includes all 23 full-time members of the 2017-18 U.S. National Under-17 Team, part of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program based in Plymouth, Michigan.

The U.S. will skate in a pre-tournament game on Tuesday, Nov. 2 against Canada Red. Team USA’s first preliminary round game will be Sunday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. MT against the Czech Republic.

The U.S. has played in five of the last eight title matches in this event, and has earned first place four times (2001, 2002, 2010, January 2014). Team USA had nine consecutive top-three finishes, stretching from 2006-14 (no event was held in 2007). The U.S. placed fifth in last year’s tournament.
