Robert Morris cruised to victory over the Canisius College hockey team on Friday night, earning a 4-0 win at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. The Griffs are now 1-5-3 and 0-1-1 in Atlantic Hockey action, while the Colonials improve to 4-3-0 and 3-2-0 against league foes.

 

The Colonials jumped on the Griffs with a goal halfway through the first period and never looked back. Greg Gibson finished on a 3-on-2 rush for a 1-0 advantage 8:27 into the contest.

 

Robert Morris added to its lead with a strong start to the second frame. Cody Wydo scored on a rush 45 seconds into the period and Zach Hervato added a goal less than two minutes later, scoring after the Griffs turned the puck over in their zone.

 

Andrew Blazek finished the scoring for Robert Morris at the 10:25 mark of the second period, firing a shot off the post that then hit the Canisius goaltender’s back and fell into the back of the net.

 

Overall, Robert Morris held a slight advantage in shots on the night, 26-24. Neither team scored on the power play with the Griffs going 0-for-2 and the Colonials going 0-for-1.
