UTICA, NY- Senior Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) and junior Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) of the Utica College women’s hockey team were named to the d3hockey.com national Team of the Week, released Tuesday.

Reed earned a spot on the top team this week, after earning second team honors one week ago. The forward scored five of Utica’s six goals in a 1-0-1 weekend for the Pioneers. On Saturday, she set a new career-best as she scored all four goals in a 4-1 win over Oswego. She followed that up with the opening goal and an assist as UC tied the Lakers on Sunday. On the season, she leads the nation with 2.83 points per game and is in the midst of a 6-game scoring streak.

Goin was named to the second team after totaling 61 saves in a weekend series against Oswego. On Saturday she stopped 30-of-31 shots she faced to help Utica to its fifth straight win, a 4-1 decision. She followed that up with 31 saves as the Pioneers tied the Lakers 2-2 to remain unbeaten so far this season. She ranks in the top-ten nationally in both goals against average (.99) and save percentage (.963).

The Pioneers (5-0-1, 3-0-1 ECAC West), who are off to their best start in over a decade, face a tough test this weekend as they take on Elmira College. Saturday’s game will be at 3 p.m. in Elmira, before the teams travel back to Utica on Sunday for a 3 p.m. face off.
