Plattsburgh To Face Adrian For DIII Championship After Win Over Norwich

ADRIAN, Mich. – The top-ranked Plattsburgh State women’s ice hockey team will play second-ranked Adrian College in the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championship final on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Arrington Ice Arena. The Cardinals, who are seeking their fourth straight national title – sixth overall – are 27-1-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs, who are in the title tilt for the first time in school history, are 28-2.

The game will have live video and Live Stats available at http://www.ncaa.com/sports/icehockey-women/d3. There will be a postgame awards ceremony with the trophy presentation and announcements of the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team.

Plattsburgh State is 3-0 all time against Adrian, including a pair of wins during this regular season. The Cardinals blanked the Bulldogs, 5-0, in November at the Panther/Cardinal Classic and then Plattsburgh State won, 4-3, in overtime at the East-West Hockey Classic in January. Saturday marks the first time that the teams will square off in the postseason.

The Cardinals beat No. 4 Norwich University, 4-0, in Friday’s first semifinal game and the Bulldogs pulled off a 3-2 overtime victory against No. 10 Gustavus Adolphus College in the other semifinal contest. Norwich and Gustavus Adolphus tangle in the third-place game on Saturday at 3 p.m.
