UTICA, NY- Freshman Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) of the Utica College women’s hockey team was named the ECAC West Rookie of the Week, Monday, after her stellar performance last weekend.
Patterson opened her career on a positive note as she totaled four points in a weekend sweep of SUNY Canton. On Saturday, she had two assists, including one on the game-winner to help lift Utica to a 4-1 victory over Canton. She followed that up with her first collegiate goal and added an assist in the Pioneers’ win over the Roos on Sunday. She is currently tied for the national lead for points per game amongst rookies (2.00), and her 1.50 assists per game are tied for fifth nationally.
The Pioneers (2-0) open up ECAC West conference action next weekend as they take on William Smith College in a home-and-home series. The first game will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Aud, before both teams travel to Geneva, NY on Sunday for a 4 p.m. faceoff.
