There are plenty of unknowns, but even more possibilities. As we open camp and move closer to the season, we’ll discover more about who we are and what we can become together. We know we have excellent players. The exciting part is finding out just how great this team can be. This camp isn’t about proving who we are – it’s about discovering how high we can rise, together.”

Of the 10 unsigned players, six are members of the team’s 2025 draft class plus four additional invites. Rosters for the 2025-26 season must be finalized by Wednesday, Nov. 19, and can include a maximum of 23 active players.

The Buffalo Sabres lost 3-1 to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday (Oct. 13). Tage Thompson had the only goal for the Sabres which tied the game 1-1.

“It’s not good enough,” captain Rasmus Dahlin said. “Better start today, worse ending.”

Second-period goals from Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon, however, left the Sabres chasing the game against a skilled and speedy Colorado team. Shots were an even 12-12 in the middle frame, then 15-4 Avalanche in the third.

“We were getting pucks to the net, bodies to the net, had a lot of chances,” Thompson said. “And then they made a push, and I felt like we didn’t have as much extended O-zone (time) after that where we could really even get to the net, because we didn’t have the puck. (We’ve) just got to find a way to be better.”
