    BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men’s hockey team fell to St. John Fisher with a 2-1 final in their season opener this evening at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.

    • Lucas Signoretti (Ottawa, ON/Sudbury Cubs) scored the lone goal for the Bengals with Chris Blango (Chadds Ford, PA/Philadelphia Little Flyers) and David Tolan (LaVerne, CA/Danbury Hat Tricks) earning the assist.
    • Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) made 18 saves in net in the effort.

    HOW IT HAPPENED

    • St. John Fisher got on the board early in the first period as Mike Markowski scored on a power play opportunity.
    • Both sides remained quiet until the third period.
    • Early in the third, Mithell Ferras scored to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.
    • Later in the period, Signoretti netted his first goal as a Bengal on a power play opportunity to cut into the lead.
    • Despite a late push from the Bengals, St. John Fisher held strong to secure the win.
    • Buffalo State outshot the Cardinals 33-20 overall in the effort.

    • Sebastian Woods made 32 saves to help the Cardinals secure their first win in program history.
