Oswego, N.Y. – The Oswego State Woman’s Hockey team continued its win streak posting a 2-0 shutout on the road against Plymouth State University on Friday afternoon. This is the sixth win in a row, third straight on the road for Lakers, improving to 8-2 on the season. Plymouth State drops to 1-11-1 with the loss.

After a scoreless first period, freshman Rachel Lenardsparked the momentum netting a goal just 5:05 into the second, her fourth of the season. This came after catching a pass off Olivia Ellis’ feed, the freshman then went 5-hole on a shot from the right face-off dot. Ellis dished off two assists in the contest.

Oswego held the edge in shots throughout the entire game, outshooting Plymouth 30-13. It was in the third period when freshman Andrea Noss registered a goal for the Lakers at 12:54 to cushion the Lakers for the last few minutes of the contest. Her goal stemmed from Ellis’ shot from the point that hit the sophomore out front, the puck popped to the right post and Noss found the empty net. The freshman also posted an assist on the Lenard goal.

Senior Bridget Smith minded the net for the Lakers, recording a total of 13 saves and posting her third shutout this season, 10th thus far in her career at Oswego. This was not an easy task as Oswego took a penalty midway through the game when the Lakers were up by one. Purple knight opponent Haley Branovan skated in 1-on-2 and made quick move in front of the net but was then denied by Smith.

The Lakers will return to the ice when they face host Saint Michael’s College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
