OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team made it five-straight victories with a 2-0 win over Neumann University to close-out a weekend series with the Knights on Saturday afternoon in the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the triumph, Oswego improves to 7-2-2 overall and 5-1- in ECAC Women’s West action while the Knights drop to 1-9-1, 1-6-1.

Oswego took control of the game when it finally broke onto the board in the second period. Rachel Lenarddished the puck off to Brianna Rice behind the Neumann goal. Rice tried a nifty wraparound but was initially denied by the Knights’ goalie. The junior kept her cool, gathering the rebound and tucking it inside the near post at 10:52.

Minutes later, the Lakers capitalized on a Neumann trip as Alyssa Brockmann fired a shot from the point. With a bunch of traffic in front of the net, the puck sliced through and found Lizzy Marks for a deflection and the tally. Brockmann and Olivia Ellis were both credited with assists on the play.

In goal, Tori Trovato made 26 saves to improve to 3-2-1 on the year, earning her first shutout of the campaign.

Oswego held a plus-10 margin in shots (36-26) while winning the faceoff battle 32-19.

The Lakers will now have more than a month of rest before gearing back up at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15 at Chatham University.
