Oswego State Loses To Central Canadian All-Stars

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team fell 6-3 in an exhibition game to the Central Canadian Hockey League Graduate All-Stars Saturday night at the Marano Campus Center Arena. The team is coming off 19-5-4 record in the 2014-15 season, including a trip to the NCAA Division III Championship.

It was freshman Terry Sneath who got the wheels turning for the Lakers, scoring a goal just 1:33 into the contest. JJ Hart was able to gain the zone knocking the puck down the sideboards, where Sneath gathered it and beat the goalie low. Oswego’s second goal of the night came from another freshman as Cameron Berry cashed one in at the 12:21 mark in the first. The Lakers would finish the period with a 2-1 lead going into the locker room.

The CCHL Graduates struck first in the following period, beating Matt Zawadzki with 11:32 on the clock.Kenny Neil regained the lead for Oswego though, notching one just 3:21 later. The third period caused trouble for the Lakers, as the CCHL team nabbed four, while keeping Oswego’s score sheet empty.

Justin Gilbert earned the start in net for the Lakers, tallying four saves. He was then replaced in the second by Zawadzki, who turned in 15 saves. Transfer Adrian Ignagni sat between the pipes for the final period, registering eight.

Men’s ice hockey will drop the puck for its regular season opener at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 as the team travels to Brockport to take on the Golden Eagles.
