New York, NY – The NWHL (National Women’s Hockey League) announced today the signing of former University of Wisconsin forward Madison Packer to the New York Riveters.

Madison Packer grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and went on to play hockey for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. While at Wisconsin, Packer was one of nineteen players in school history to record 100 points and tied eighth for single season shots (184) in during the 2012-2013 season (184).

Packer was named to the All-WCHA Academic Team in 2013-2014, and was a two-time WCHA Rookie of the Week in 2011 and a two-time WCHA Offensive Player of the Week in 2013 and 2014.

Before her time at Wisconsin, Packer played hockey for the Girls U19 AAA and USA Hockey’s U18 National team, where she won gold in two IIHF World Women’s U18 Tournaments in 2008 and 2009.

“It’s an amazing honor to be a part of the first group of young women entering the league,” says Packer. “To have the opportunity to continue playing competitively is something we have all wanted for a long time, and it shows the massive growth that has occurred within the sport as well as growing support from outside.”
