ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Nazareth’s women’s hockey team pushed its perfect record to 10-0 Saturday as the Golden Flyers completed a weekend sweep of visiting Chatham with a 5-0 victory over the Cougars at the Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex.

The Golden Flyers also defeated the Cougars 3-0 Friday and now sit at 10-0 overall in their inaugural season. The Golden Flyers are 6-0 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference games. Chatham dropped to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in conference games.

The Golden Flyers were dominant again in victory as they outshot the Cougars 37-18 to record their sixth shutout of the season. They also won 34 of 50 face-offs. They have outscored their 10 opponents by a 73-7 margin.

Emily Kromer scored two goals and added an assist and Mikaila Rubin, Keeley Rose and Jessica Kollberg also scored for the Golden Flyers. Anibella Barona and Hailey Redders each delivered two assists and Stephanie Kubis also had an assist.

The game was scoreless until 35 seconds remained in the first period when Nazareth converted on a 5-on-3 power play chance. Nice puck movement saw Rubin score for the sixth time this season with assists to Kromer and Kubis.

Nazareth added two more goals in the second period as Rose and Kromer converted less than two minutes apart. Positioned to left of the goal, Rose was able to tip in a crossing pass from Barona at 17:05. Then, at 18:59, with the teams playing 4-on-4, Kromer scored her seventh goal of the season with Redders and Barona assisting.

Nazareth tacked on two more goals in the third period. Kromer’s second goal of the game came with the Golden Flyers playing short-handed following a penalty to Lauren Jones. Kromer was able to intercept a pass near the neutral zone and was able to steady the puck and slap a shot past Chatham goaltender Katy Reed for an unassisted tally.

Nazareth’s fifth goal came after Redders was able to dig a puck out of the corner and redirect it to Kollberg at the blue line. Kollberg’s slap shot found the upper left corner for her second goal of the season.

In dominating the face-off circle, Nikolle Van Stralen won 14 of her 20 attempts and Kromer went 6-for-6. Rubin won 9 of 13.

Brehm finished with 18 saves to gain her second shutout of the weekend and fourth of the season.

Nazareth is off next weekend, but returns to the ice Dec. 14-15 for a pair of conference games at third-ranked Elmira.
