PURCHASE, N.Y. – Following the second multi-goal game of his career on Friday, sophomore defenseman Ryan Jackson (Montreal, Que./Hawkesbury Hawks (CCHL)) of the Manhattanville College men’s hockey team was recognized with a spot on the D3hockey.com Team of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday morning.

Jackson is the first Valiant to earn a spot on the national team, which recognizes the top-six players by position in Division III during the previous week, since Adam Platt ’17 on February 8, 2017.

Jackson scored a pair of goals from the blue line to lead Manhattanville to a 5-3 win over Elmira College on Friday night in the team’s United Collegiate Hockey Conference opener. The sophomore gave the Valiants a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period with his first of the night, and then evened the score at 3-3 less than eight minutes into the second period to start a string of three unanswered goals for the visitors.

Through two games, Jackson leads Manhattanville with his two goals, while his two points are tied for second on the squad. Six different players have scored the team’s seven goals so far in 2017-18.

Thanks to its 1-0-1 start, Manhattanville is receiving votes in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com Div. III National polls this week. The Valiants will look to keep the momentum going with a pair of UCHC contests against Neumann University and Stevenson University on Friday and Saturday night, respectively, as Playland Ice Casino. Both games are set to faceoff at 7 p.m.
