Lightning Assign Former Canisius College Star Cory Conacher To Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned forward Cory Conacher to the Syracuse Crunch today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Conacher, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, played in four preseason games with the Lightning this season, recording two assists and a plus-1 rating. He appeared in 11 games with Tampa Bay in 2016-17, notching a goal and four points. Conacher has played in 152 career NHL games with Tampa Bay, New York Islanders, Ottawa and Buffalo, recording 20 goals and 62 points.

The Burlington, Ontario native skated in 56 games for the Crunch last season. Conacher scored 17 goals while ranking eighth in the AHL for assists with 43 and eighth for points with 60. He was tied for the Syracuse lead for points, was second for assists and third for goals. Conacher also played in 22 Calder Cup Playoff games as the Crunch reached the Finals, leading the team with 12 goals and 28 points.

Conacher was undrafted out of Canisius College and was originally signed as a free agent by Tampa Bay on July 5, 2011.
