Grand Rapids Defeats Syracuse, One Win From Calder Cup

Dan Renouf scored his first two goals of the postseason to help Grand Rapids defeat Syracuse 3-2 in Game 4 of the Calder Cup Finals at Onondaga County War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, New York on Friday.

Grand Rapids leads the best-of-7 series 3-1 and can win the American Hockey League championship Saturday in Game 5 at Syracuse.

Renouf scored with 2:12 left in the first period and 10:33 into the second period to give Grand Rapids a 3-0 lead. They were his first two goals in 17 postseason games after the defenseman scored three in 67 regular-season games.

Ben Street scored 10:00 into the first period for Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

Yani Gourde scored 11:45 into the second period and Michael Bournival made it 3-2 at 7:29 of the third for Syracuse, the affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Jared Coreau made 31 saves for Grand Rapids. Mike McKenna made 32 for Syracuse.
