Troy, NY – Ryan Hornberger scored twice in this weekend’s hockey game that helped Erie Community College clinch the Region 3 title with a (11-1) win over Hudson Valley.
Aaron Wanat, Edward Shantler, Michael Kline, and Joseph Panek also added goals while Bradley Jones, Trevor Evans, Jordyn Bellitto, and Zachary Morlock added goals as well as got assists in the big win. Daniel Weener made 16 stops for the victory in goal.
Wanat opened scoring with a just over a minute left in the first period and would have the only goal in the first for either team.
Hudson Valley would score a goal to start the second period and then it was all ECC goals from then on to end the game (11-1)
After the big Regional win ECC would turn around the next night and get another win against Canisius College/ACHA (4-2).
Wanat scored twice in the win at home at the HARBORCENTER against Canisius.
Bellitto and Evans also netted a goal apiece while Hornberger, Jones, and Morlock chipped in assists
ECC scored the lone goal of the first period before the flood gates opened in the middle frame. Bellitto scored for ECC first before Canisius scored twice to even the score up and close the period tied up at (2-2).
ECC would put the game away in the third with Wanat scoring on a power play and then a final goal by Evans to end the game.
William Korczynski made 30 saves between the pipes for the win.
