BINGHAMTON, NY –The New Jersey Devils today signed forwards Blake Coleman, Stefan Noesen, Blake Pietila, Kevin Rooney, and Ben Thomson to two-way contracts. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

Coleman, 25, signed for one year and spent most of the 2016-17 season with Albany (AHL), playing in 52 regular-season games and scoring 19 goals and 20 assists for 39 points with 56 penalty minutes. He tallied one assist in four 2017 Calder Cup Playoff matches. The 5-11, 200lb., forward made his NHL debut with New Jersey on January 12 at Edmonton. He played in 23 regular-season games with the Devils and notched two points (1g-1a) to go along with 27 penalty minutes. Coleman scored his first career NHL goal on March 26 vs. Dallas against Kari Lehtonen and had his first career NHL assist/point on January 17 at Minnesota.

Noesen, 24, signed for one season and split the 2016-17 season between Anaheim, San Diego (AHL) and New Jersey. This past season, he made his season debut and scored his first career NHL goal with the Ducks on December 7, 2016 vs. Carolina. The 6-1, 205lb., forward was claimed on waivers by New Jersey from Anaheim on January 25, 2017. He scored one goal in each of his first two games as a Devil, Jan. 26 vs. Washington and Jan. 31 at Detroit. Through 32 regular-season games with New Jersey, Noesen notched six goals and eight points. He also tallied the first assist of his NHL career on Feb. 14 vs. Colorado.

Pietila, 24, inked a two-year deal after completing his second season with the Devils organization, splitting time between New Jersey and Albany (AHL). He played in 10 regular-season games with New Jersey, making his 2016-17 season debut on November 19 at Los Angeles. The left-shooting forward tallied one assist on March 28 at Winnipeg. Pietila also skated in 49 regular-season games with Albany, scoring a career high 17 goals for 33 points to go along with 38 penalty minutes. He had two assists in two 2017 Calder Cup Playoff matches.

Rooney, 24, signed for one year after completing his first full professional season in 2016-17, splitting time between New Jersey and Albany (AHL). He made his NHL debut on March 2 at Washington, after signing a one-year, two-way NHL contract with the Devils on February 27, 2017. The left-shooting forward played in four regular-season games with New Jersey and recorded four penalty minutes. He skated in 71 regular-season games for Albany, notching 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points and 39 penalty minutes. Additionally, Rooney had one goal in four 2017 Calder Cup Playoff contests.

Thomson, 24, signed for one year after completing his third professional season, spending most of the 2016-17 campaign with Albany (AHL). The left-shooting forward made his NHL debut with the Devils on April 4 vs. Philadelphia and played in three games with the club. He led Albany (tie, Brian Gibbons) with 72 regular-season games played and scored six goals and four assists for 10 points with 90 penalty minutes. Additionally, he notched one goal in four 2017 Calder Cup Playoff matches. Through 212 career AHL regular-season games, Thomson has 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points to go along with 296 penalty minutes.
