BINGHAMTON, NY – The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Joseph Blandisi to a two-year, two-way contract and goaltender Scott Wedgewood to a one-year, two-way contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

Blandisi, 23, completed his second season with the Devils’ organization. The forward split time between New Jersey and Albany (AHL), dressing in 27 games with the Devils and in 31 games with their AHL affiliate, Albany Devils. He finished the 2016-17 NHL campaign with three goals and six assists for nine points to go along with 26 penalty minutes. With Albany, he notched eight markers and 17 assists for 25 points with 60 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 200lb., forward scored his first career NHL overtime goal on Mar. 21 vs. the NY Rangers and tallied an assist on John Quenneville’s first career NHL goal during that same game. He had a career high four-game, point-streak from Mar. 9-17, scoring one goal and three assists. In addition, Blandisi was named to the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic, but did not participate because of illness.

The Markham, Ont., native signed with New Jersey as a free agent on January 14, 2015 after spending four seasons, 2011-15, in the Ontario Hockey League playing for Owen Sound, Ottawa and Barrie. In 2014-15, he was named the OHL’s Overage Player of the Year (Leo Lalonde Trophy) and to the OHL Third All-Star Team after leading the league with 52 goals (112 points). Born July 18, 1994, Blandisi was Colorado’s fourth choice (6th round), 162nd overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Wedgewood, 24, was limited to 10 games this past season due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder that required surgery to repair. The left catching goaltender finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 2.18 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. In 109 career AHL regular-season games, the 6-2, 195lb. netminder has 50 wins, 36 losses and 16 overtime/shootout losses to go along with eight shutouts.

During the 2015-16 season, the Brampton, Ont., native played in four games with New Jersey, notching his first two NHL wins, including one shutout. In those first four games of NHL action, Wedgewood totaled a 1.25 GAA and a .957 save percentage. Born on August 14, 1992, he won a Bronze Medal with Team Canada at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships in Calgary and Edmonton. He made his professional debut by appearing in 48 games with Trenton (ECHL) in 2012-13, after spending the prior four seasons with Plymouth (OHL). Wedgewood was New Jersey’s second choice (3rd round), 84th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
