Defenseman Calvin de Haan agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Islanders on Wednesday.

Financial terms were not released but TSN reported an average annual value of $3.3 million.

The sides came together the same day de Haan, a restricted free agent, was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing in Toronto.

“Calvin is a homegrown product of the organization and has developed into one of our top defenseman during his time with the organization,” Islanders general manager Garth Snow said in a statement. “He plays important minutes for our club and we’re excited to have him back for one more year.”

De Haan, 26, had NHL career highs in goals (five), assists (20) and points (25) with the Islanders last season.

Selected by New York in the first round (No. 12) of the 2009 NHL Draft, de Haan has 69 points (11 goals, 58 assists) in 271 games.
