Cortland sophomore forward Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars U19AAA) has been selected to the 2018-19 Northeast Women’s Hockey League (NEWHL) all-conference second team. In addition, both Schnorr and freshman forward Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights U19AA) represent Cortland on the NEWHL’s All-Rookie Team.

Schnorr, in her first season of collegiate hockey, currently has 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points in 26 games played. She has set a school single-season record for goals and currently is fourth in school history for single-season points, dating back to when the program restarted in 2000-01. All of her points have come over Cortland’s last 18 games, including three goals and an assist in a win over King’s and two goals on four other occasions.

Schnorr currently is tied for second in the NEWHL in goal scoring, tied for fourth in the league in points, and tied for first with four game-winning goals.

Gaffney has six goals and shares the team lead with 10 assists for 16 total points in 26 games. She recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Oswego that helped position Cortland for a NEWHL playoff berth and scored twice in a win versus Lebanon Valley.

Cortland is presently 15-8-3 overall and finished third in the NEWHL regular season with a 5-8-3 mark. The Red Dragons won 3-2 at second-seeded Potsdam last Saturday in the NEWHL semifinals and will travel to top-seeded Plattsburgh for the league championship game this Saturday at 3 p.m.

The NEWHL is in its second season of competition in 2018-19. The league currently consists of five schools – Cortland, Plattsburgh, Oswego, Buffalo State and Potsdam. Canton and Morrisville State will join the NEWHL next winter.
