Junior Sky Timmons (Akwesasne/Salmon River H.S.) scored her first two collegiate goals to help lead the Cortland women’s ice hockey team to a 4-1 win against New England College Sundayafternoon at the Oswego State Classic. The Red Dragons evened their record at 1-1, while the Pilgrims fell to 0-2.

Sophomore Niamh O’Connor (Paramus, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) and freshman Sydney Carlucci (Baldwinsville/Rochester Edge) each contributed a goal and an assist for Cortland with the points being the first of Carlucci’s career. Junior Abbie Adams (Potsdam/Cornwall Typhoons) and sophomore Corey Temple (Troy, MI/Ohio Flames) recorded two assists apiece, and sophomore Katie Gili (Brooklyn/New Jersey Rockets) added one assist. Freshman goalie Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) stopped 18 shots in her first career start.

Ashley Bonner netted a short-handed goal for New England College with Marisa Roth earning an assist. Goalie Lauren Hopps made 29 saves.

Carlucci gave Cortland a 1-0 lead at 4:23 of the opening period on the power play with O’Connor and Gili assisting. After a scoreless second period, Adams assisted O’Connor’s power-play goal at 8:07 of the third. Timmons tallied her first of the game at 11:19 as Temple and Carlucci assisted to make it 3-0. Bonner spoiled the shutout bid at the 15:39 mark with her short-handed score before Timmons capped the scoring on the power play at 16:50. Adams and Temple each picked up her second assist of the game on the goal.
