FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore Tim Harrision scored twice, including the game-winning goal with 2:11 remaining, to lead fourth-ranked Colgate to a 4-2 victory over Sacred Heart in collegiate men’s ice hockey action Saturday at Milford Ice Pavilion.

 

A day after scoring the first goal of his collegiate career, Harrison struck twice to help the Raiders win their fourth straight contest. Junior Darcy Murphy added a goal and an assist while Junior Kyle Baun found the back of the net for the fourth game in a row on an empty-net tally in the final 71 seconds to close out the scoring.

 

Sophomore Charlie Finn made 10 saves in goal for the Raiders as Colgate out-shot Sacred Heart, 38-12, in the contest.

Won-Lost Records

– Colgate improved to 5-1-0 on the season as they swept the weekend series from the Pioneers.

– Sacred Heart slipped to 2-4-0 on the season with the setback.

 

How It Happened

– Colgate took a 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the contest as junior Darcy Murphy scored his second goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Jake Kulevich.

– Sacred Heart tied the game at 1-all late in the opening frame as Drew George found the back of the net with 15:46 elapsed the period. Jeff Carroll and Justin Danforth picked up assists on the play.

– Harrison gave the Raiders lead once again with less than two seconds remaining in the second period, converting on the power play with 1.7 seconds to play to make it a 2-1 game. Senior John Lidgett and junior Mike Borkowsi were credited with assists on the tally.

– The Pioneers once again drew even, this time using a strike from Spencer Grabowski just 1:51 into the third period to knot the score at 2-2. Jacob Brightbill and Ben Lake were credited with assists on the play.

– Harrison notched the game-winning goal at the 17:49 mark of the third, teaming up with seniors Joe Wilson and Spiro Goulakos for his second game-winning goal in as many contests.

– Junior Kyle Baun closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal exactly one minute after Harrison’s goal to give the Raiders a two-goal cushion.

– Baun scored for the fourth straight contest as he notched his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Baun also maintained his team scoring lead with seven points (5G/2A).

– Harrison became the first Raider to record multiple game-winning goals this season as he was credited with the decisive tally in both games of the series.

– Borkowski and extended his point-scoring streak to three games with an assist in the contest. He has notched four points (1G/3A) in those games.
