Canada Defeats Russia; USA Facing Czech

    Canada defeated Russia 3-1 to put the Canadians into the Gold Medal round of the 2015 IIHF Women’s World U18 Championship.

    While Russia got on the board first Canada answered back at 15:36 of the first period and it was Canada on the road to the win.

    Canada dropped in the third goal of the game in the second and went into the third period 3-1 with Canada having the edge in shots on goal.

    Russian Goaltender Valeria Tarakoanova was named Player of the Game for Russia and Canada’s Shae Labbe took their honors.

    The USA will face Czech Republic at 7 p.m. tonight (Sunday) to determine who will face Canada in the Gold Medal round.

    In other action this afternoon it was Finland 3, Sweden 0.
