Hamilton College goaltender Evan Buitenhuis ’18 (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson HS) was selected the NESCAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 19.

The conference player of the week award is the third of Buitenhuis’ Hamilton career. He made 27 saves in a 1-0 win at Middlebury College on Saturday and turned away 28 shots in a 0-0 overtime tie at Williams College on Sunday. Buitenhuis has posted three straight shutouts and has not allowed a goal in 203-plus minutes. He leads the NESCAC in goals against average (1.22) and save percentage (.956) and is tied for the lead with four shutouts.

The Continentals (15-6-3, 9-6-3 NESCAC) host Wesleyan University in a 2018 NESCAC Men’s Hockey Championship quarterfinal at Russell Sage Rink on Saturday, Feb. 24. Hamilton, which is 5-0-2 and has outscored opponents 19-9 in its last seven games, is seeded fourth for the championship and the Cardinals are the fifth seed. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
