BUFFALO, NY— The Buffalo Beauts hosted the New York Riveters in their first game back from the All-Star break. The first 15 minutes of the game were dominated by the Beauts, but Nana Fujimoto managed to keep all of the Beauts scoring chances out of the net. After taking 2 consecutive penalties, the Riveters found themselves in trouble. Kelley Steadman on a 5-on-3 scored the first Beauts goal and followed that up shortly after with her second of the game, also on a power play. The first period ended with the Beauts on top, 2-0.

The physicality of the game intensified during the second period. Both teams took multiple penalties but it was the Riveters who were able to capitalize on one of their power play opportunities. Beth Hanrahan scored the only goal of the period and the 2nd ended with the Beauts up 2-1.

The Riveters opened the scoring in the 3rd period on a goal by Bray Ketchum to tie the game at 2-2. On the power play, the Beauts took the 3-2 lead as Shelby Bram tipped home a point shot from Megan Bozek. The Beauts Erin Zach scored an empty net goal to bring the score to 4-2 as the Beauts would go on to win.

The Beauts will be back in action next Sunday, Feb 7th at 12:30PM, in Connecticut as they take on the Whale. The Riveters will play the Boston Pride on Feb 6th at 6:00PM in Brooklyn.
