BROOKLYN, NY, November 10, 2017 – The Player Safety Committee of the National Women’s Hockey League has suspended Buffalo Beauts forward Jess Jones and defender Sarah Casorso one game each for their actions during the team’s game last Saturday night in Rochester against the Metropolitan Riveters. Jones and Casorso will miss Buffalo’s home game on Saturday against Boston.

Jones received her suspension for two separate plays in the third period: slew-footing an opponent at 6:23 of the period and grabbing the facemask and removing the helmet of an opponent at 17:24.

Casorso also received her suspension for a pair of third-period plays: a crosscheck at 11:11 and fight at 14:37. A member of last year’s Isobel Cup-winning team, Casorso is permitted to participate in the pre-game banner ceremony at the Beauts’ home opener on Saturday.

The NWHL’s Player Safety Committee is led by Kelly Cooke, a certified hockey official and former NWHL player. The other members are two-time U.S. Olympian AJ Mleczko Griswold; 2014 U.S. Olympian Josephine Pucci, ECHL VP of Hockey Operations Joe Ernst; and former NWHL coach Bobby Jay.
