(Binghamton, NY) – The Rochester Americans’ line of Justin Bailey, Tim Schaller and William Carrier combined for six points, propelling the Amerks to a 4-0 road win over the Binghamton Senators on Saturday at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. The win gives the Amerks two straight and improves their record to 23-21-2-1 on the season.

Bailey scored two goals and added an assist for his first career three-point night, while Carrier (0+2) added a multi-point game for the second consecutive outing. Schaller and Jerry D’Amigo rounded out the scoring while Colby Robak, Jason Akeson and Phil Varone each added an assist.

Goaltender Nathan Lieuwen stopped all 23 shots he faced on the night to record his second shutout of the season. Lieuwen now has shutouts in two of his last three starts.

Binghamton netminder Chris Driedger stopped 33 of 37 Rochester shots in the loss. Buddy Robinson and Ryan Penny each recorded a team-high four shots on goal for the Senators.

Although the teams traded power play chances throughout the first period, neither could break through and the game was scoreless after 20 minutes.

The second period began with 12 seconds remaining on an Amerks power play, but they needed just eight seconds to light the lamp. Bailey gained control of the puck off the opening face-off and took off toward the Binghamton zone with speed. He fed a pass over to Carrier, who in turn slid the puck to Schaller, and the ceterman tucked the puck just inside the left post for his ninth of the season, extending his point streak to eight games.

That same line would strike again early in the third, with Carrier setting up Bailey to give the Amerks a 2-0 lead. Robak got the play started with a good first pass out of the defensive zone to Carrier, who sped up the left wing boards and into the Binghamton end. When he reached the half-wall, he sidestepped a defender and sent a short pass to the slot for Bailey, who snapped a quick shot past Driedger for the goal.

D’Amigo extended Rochester’s lead to 3-0 midway through the final period. Varone skated up the center of the ice and moved the puck over to Akeson, who slowed up along the right wing boards looking to make a pass and found a streaking D’Amigo in the deep slot, where the Binghamton native redirected the pass into the net for his eighth goal of the season.

Bailey added an insurance tally on the power play late in the third for his second goal of the night and 10th of the season, giving him a career-high three-point night and clinching the 4-0 victory.

The Amerks return home on Friday, Feb. 12 when they take on the North Division rival Albany Devils in the first leg of a home-and-home series at The Blue Cross Arena. Game time is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start and will be carried live on FOX Sports 1280 Rochester.
