(Rochester, NY) – Rochester Americans General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Colin Blackwell on an American Hockey League contract for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

Blackwell, 24, has appeared in eight games this season with the Amerks while on a Professional Tryout, recording three points (2+1), all of which came in a 5-2 win at Laval on Oct. 25. A native of Lawrence, Mass., the second-year pro spent the 2016-17 campaign with the San Jose Barracuda, notching 11 points (4+7) in 57 contests before adding three goals in 15 Calder Cup Playoff contests.

Prior turning pro, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound forward played four years at Harvard University (ECAC), where he amassed 58 points (19+39) in 94 career games for the Crimson. During his time at Harvard, he helped the Crimson claim the ECAC Hockey Championship for the ninth time in school history in 2014-15 and won the Joe Tomasello Award as the team’s Unsung Hero after posting a career-high 19 points (6+13) in 28 games as a senior.

Blackwell was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh-round (194th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
