ROCHESTER, NY — Five members of the RIT women’s hockey team were named 2018-19 American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) “Krampade All-American Scholars.” Nearly 500 Division I men’s and womens’ hockey players were honored for maintaining at least a 3.6 grade-point average in each semester during the 2018-19 academic year.

Seniors Jenna de Jonge (Abbotsford, British Columbia/George Elliot) and Kathryn Kennedy (Hamilton, Ontario/), junior Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) and sophomores Stella Haberman (Golden Valley, MN/Minnesota Whitecaps) and Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) earned this tremendous honor for RIT. de Jonge is a three-time selection, while Baker and Larson were both honored for the second time.

“We are extremely proud of this group of student-athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the game on the ice and matched that performance in the classroom,” said AHCA executive director Joe Bertagna. “The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement.”

Last month, 17 Tigers earned Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team honors for maintaining a 3.0 or better GPA in each semester during 2018-19.

RIT finished with 12 wins and advanced to the College Hockey America Tournament in 2018-19. The Tigers kick off the 2019-20 season on Sept. 22 with an exhibition contest vs. Concordia University (Quebec) and open with four straight regular season contests, two against University of Vermont on Oct. 4-5 and a pair with St. Cloud State University on Oct. 11-12.
