The New Year rolled in with postponements due to snow! But the WNYGVIH League managed to get most of their games in plus reschedule many that were postponed. Several have been moved to later in January so check the WNYGVIH website for the updated schedule.

A few to note:
The Dec. 12 LID vs KenGI game will be played on Jan. 24 at Riverworks at 5:30 p.m.
Jan. 12 LID vs HEWS game will go to January 17 at 4 p.m. at West Seneca
The Monsignor Martin vs Williamsville game that wasn’t scheduled is now being held January 29 at 8:40 at Northtowns.
All of these are also subject to change so check the website.

Sitting in first place as of January 12 is Frontier/LakeShore/Orchard Park with 12 games played and a 7-2-3 (26.5 pts) record. Second is Williamsville with 12 games played and a 8-3-1 (24.5) record and in Third is Clarence/Amherst/SweetHome with 13 games in and sitting with a 8-4-1 (24.5) record. Following in order are Monsignor Martin, Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew, West Seneca/Hamburg/Eden and Kenmore/Grand Island.

Charleigh Rondeau is leading the league with 14 goals/7 assists followed by Emma Faso with 11 goals/10 assists, both play for CASH. Kayla Blas (MM) is in third with 18 points on 10 goals/8 assists; Holly Schmelzer( Wms), fourth, 17 points on 9 goals/8 assists and in fifth Brooke Becker (FLOP), 11 goals/5 assists.

The top three goals are all from Williamsville, going by stats. Sydney Olschewske and Elizabeth Trimbly have had just a little over 20 minutes between the pipes but have a 1.00 Save percentage and 0.00 GAA. However with 366.28 minutes in goal, Jenna Lukomski has a .937 Save percentage and 1.45 goals against and two shutouts.

Several other interesting notes in the past couple weeks:

Kenmore/Grand Island played to a 0-0 Overtime tie against Hamburg/Eden/West Seneca at Riverworks on January 8.

There have been five overtime finishes since January 1. In addition to the KGI vs Williamsville tie, HEWS played to a 1-1 tie with FLOP on January 4; the same day LID play to a 4-4 tie with Williamsville and on January 11 Monsignor Martin tied FLOP 3-3 and LID overtook CASH 4-3 in Overtime.

CASH’s Emma Faso has made it to ninth in the League’s All Time Scoring record book with 95 points.

We congratulate former Monsignor Martin player Rachel Ziarnowski Rumbold on the birth of a daughter, Catharine Rae. Catharine joined mom and Dad Dylan Rumbold on December 18 at 2:30 p.m. She weighed 7 lb. 6 oz and was 21”. The family is doing fine!
