Williamsville Downs HEWS In Quarterfinals of WNYGVIHF

BY RANDY SCHULTZ—AMHERST, NY – Amanda Gaffney and Ella Huntley each had a goal and two assists to lead the Williamsville Girls High School Hockey team to a 5-0 victory over the Hamburg/Eden/West Seneca Girls High School Hockey Team at the Northtown Center Thursday night. It was the opening game of the Western New York Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation Quarterfinal round.

Following a scoreless first period, Gaffney scored at 1:03 of the second period to give Williamsville a 1-0 lead. Huntley assisted on the goal.

Williamsville increased their lead to 2-0 at the 12:19 mark of the second on a goal by Laura Kaplin with Gaffney assisting.

It was all Williamsville in the third stanza with Kelly Dormer scoring at 1:35 with Jenna Piotrowski and Gaffney assisting.  The victors increased their lead to 4-0 just two minutes later when Holly Schmelzer scored with Huntley assisting.

Huntley rounded out the scoring for Williamsville less than a minute later. Kylie Rosen and Kaylee Conover assisted.

 

Jenna Lukomski recorded the shutout for Williamsville.
