GENEVA, N.Y. – Four different players scored goals as the William Smith women’s ice hockey team defeated Cortland, 4-0, in ECAC West action Sunday afternoon at The Cooler in the final regular-season game for both teams.
Sophomore goalie Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) made 24 saves for Cortland (8-15-2, 6-10-2 ECAC West), which has earned the sixth seed in the upcoming conference playoffs and will travel to third-seeded Oswego for a quarterfinal game next Saturday.
Rebecca Begley tallied a goal and an assist for the Herons (3-21-1, 2-15-1). Rachel McKay, Catherine Linehan and Kiley Fewster each netted a goal and Johanna Slicklen, Krista Federow and Satah Garrett recorded one assist apiece. Goalie Maggie Salmon registered 42 saves in posting the shutout.
