US U17 Men’s Select Team Skates Past Switzerland In Five Nations Opener

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Men’s Under-17 Select Team scored eight unanswered goals to top Switzerland 8-1 today in its opening game at the 2017 Five Nations Tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Josh Groll (San Diego, Calif.) scored twice in the victory for Team USA. Jake Hale (Minneapolis, Minn.) led all point-getters with one goal and two assists. Other U.S. goal-scorers included Arthur Kaliyev (Staten Island, N.Y.), Grant Sillianoff (Edina, Minn.), Robert Mastrosimone (East Islip, N.Y.), Mitch Miller (Sylvania, Ohio) and Robert Christy (Saint Paul, Minn.).

U.S. goaltenders Ethan Haider (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Kyle Chauvette (New Boston, N.H.) combined to stop 24 of 25 Swiss shots.

The U.S. (1-0) will meet Slovakia tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. local time / 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time in the teams’ second game of pool play. That game will be played in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and will be live streamed.
