Sophomore center Mike Vecchione of Union College has been named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week.
Vecchione scored both nights in Union’s season-opening sweep of American International (Oct. 10) and 19th-ranked New Hampshire (Oct. 11) at Messa Rink.
Vecchione recorded a shorthanded goal and assisted on Jeff Taylor’s game-winner against AIC, then followed by registering a goal and assist two minutes apart versus UNH. The Saugus, Mass., native leads the Dutchmen in scoring with four points.
Second-ranked Union (2-0) travels to Maine (0-2) this weekend (Oct. 17-18). Friday’s game will be carried by Fox College Sports Pacific.
