SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union’s hockey team went from famine to feast during a crucial stretch of the third period to record a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over 19th-ranked St. Lawrence Friday night at Messa Rink. The win snapped the team’s five-game losing streak and avenged a 7-1 road loss to the Saints on Feb. 7.

The Dutchmen scored three power play goals in a span of 7 minutes, 16 seconds to erase a 2-0 decifit. Prior to the scoring outbreak, the team had been held off the board for eight-and-a-half periods (171:49) at home.

Daniel Ciampini started the rally with his NCAA-leading 25th goal of the season, ripping a slap shot from the slot at the 5:55 mark. Mike Vecchione tied the game at 7:31 on a shot that found its way through traffic in front of the net. Max Novak completed the comeback with a tap in to the right of the goal at 13:11, notching the 11th game-winning goal of his career.

St. Lawrence build a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals scored 21 seconds apart from Brian Ward and Matt Purmal.

Union will host Clarkson tomorrow on Senior Night.

Notes:
Colin Stevens recorded the 49th win of his career, adding to his school record … Sebastien Gingras returned to the lineup after missing four games to injury.
