UNION EXPLODES FOR 6-1 WIN OVER PRINCETON

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union earned its first league win Saturday night with a 6-1 triumph over Princeton at Messa Rink, snapping a five-game home winless streak in the process.  The Dutchmen also extended their unbeaten streak against the Tigers to 11 games (9-0-2).

Senior Daniel Ciampini recorded his second career hat trick (with two assists) for a career-best five-point night.  Defenseman Jeff Taylor added four points (goal, three assists),Max Novak compiled three assists, and Mike Vecchione registered his sixth multiple-point game of the season with a goal and assist.

Union punched in three goals on the power play, and finished with a 37-16 shot advantage, as the 12th-ranked Dutchmen produced their largest offensive ouptut since the season opener (a 7-3 win over American International).  In goal, Colin Stevens continued his mastery of Princeton, making 15 saves.  In his last three games against the Tigers, Stevens has allowed just one goal.

The Dutchmen are off next week for final exams before taking on Notre Dame at the Shillelagh Tournament, Nov. 28, in South Bend.
