SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union came up on the short end of a defensive battle, losing 1-0 to Brown Saturday evening at Messa Rink. The Dutchmen were kept off the board during the ECAC Hockey weekend, and have lost four straight at home.

Joey de Concilys scored the game’s lone goal with a rising shot from the left circle, just 5:45 into the second period. Ben Tegtmeyer and Ryan Jacobson assisted on the play.

Union finished with a 36-23 shot advantage, building a 16-3 margin in the third period. Despite the pressure, Union was unable to find the equalizer. Max Novak, Matt Wilkins andMichael Pontarelli led the way offensively with five shots each. Colin Stevens held steady in goal for the second straight night, making 22 saves and stopping 53 of 55 shots (.964) on the weekend.

The Garnet travel to Colgate next Friday (Feb. 20) in the last roadtrip of the regular season.

Brown snapped a five-game losing streak against Union … defensemen Jeff Taylor and Sebastien Gingras missed the game due to injury.
