|COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey today announced the 23-player roster for the U.S. Women’s National Team that will take part in a week-long training camp with the Canadian Women’s National Team at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, just north of Pittsburgh.The joint camp will be held from Nov. 4-10 and will feature two exhibition contests between the United States and Canada. The roster features 18 members of the 2019 U.S. Women’s National Team that won gold at the 2019 IIHF Women’s World Championship, including Cayla Barnes (Eastvale, Calif.), Kacey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.), Megan Bozek (Buffalo Grove, Ill.), Hannah Brandt (Vadnais Heights, Minn.), Sydney Brodt (North Oaks, Minn.), Dani Cameranesi (Plymouth, Minn.), Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.), Alex Cavallini(Delafield, Wis.), Kendall Coyne Schofield (Palos Heights, Ill.), Megan Keller (Farmington Hills, Mich.), Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.),
Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho), Emily Matheson (Buffalo, N.Y.), Annie Pankowski (Laguna Hills, Calif.), Kelly Pannek (Plymouth, Minn.), Maddie Rooney (Andover, Minn.), Haley Scamurra (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Lee Stecklein (Roseville, Minn.).Kali Flanagan (Hudson, N.H.), Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Monique Lamoureux-Morando (Grand Forks, N.D.) – all three 2018 Olympic gold medalists — return to the team for the camp, while back-to-back IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship medalist Kaitlin Burt(Lynn, Mass.) and 2015 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship gold medalist Sophia Shaver(Wayzata, Minn.) are set to make their U.S. Women’s National Team debuts.
“The upcoming training camp in Pittsburgh is another opportunity to bring the best in our sport together to train and compete,” said Katie Million, director of women’s national team programs at USA Hockey. “We’re excited to welcome Hockey Canada and thank the Pittsburgh Penguins for their efforts in making this week possible.
“The 23 players represent 10 different states. Minnesota leads the pack with seven representatives followed by Massachusetts with three. California, Illinois, New York, North Dakota and Wisconsin each have two representatives apiece and Idaho, Michigan and New Hampshire all have one. For a complete roster, click here.
NOTES: The training camp replaces the Four Nations Cup that was scheduled to be played in November in Sweden… USA is the reigning Olympic champion and has captured gold in eight of the last nine IIHF Women’s World Championships, including five straight… The U.S. and Canada have battled in the gold-medal game of every IIHF Women’s World Championship and Olympic Winter Games staged, with just two exceptions (2019 world championship, 2006 Olympics).
