Syracuse’s McHale Tabbed CHA Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Syracuse freshman forward Marielle McHale was named College Hockey America Rookie of the Week after scoring her first career goal over the weekend, the conference announced Monday, Nov. 5.

McHale notched her first collegiate goal at Penn State Sunday, Nov. 4, scoring once in Syracuse’s 5-2 series-sweeping win. McHale has two points (1 goal, 1 assist) through 10 games this season.

She’s the second Orange skater to earn Rookie of the Week honors from the conference this year. Freshman forward Lauren Bellefontaine received the honor in October following the first multi-goal game of her career. She scored two goals and added an assist in a win at Lindenwood win (Oct. 20), assisting on the game’s opening goal before scoring two second-period goals.

McHale and the Orange return to action this weekend at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Syracuse hosts Princeton for two games Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10-11, with the puck dropping at 2 p.m. both days.
